UNESCO

(United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It contributes to peace and security by promoting international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, information and communication. UNESCO aims to increase mutual understanding and develop a deeper understanding of people’s lives by promoting the sharing of information and the free flow of ideas. UNESCO’s programmes contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, as defined in the 2030 Agenda adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. The UNESCO Constitution was adopted in London in 1945 and entered into force in 1946. UNESCO was founded in the aftermath of two World Wars, which occurred in less than thirty years, with the vision of building lasting peace in the minds of people, as economic and political agreements between states were insufficient.
